The South Carolina DOT closed the inside southbound lane of the bridge over Lake Hartwell at mile marker 14.2 (the Three and Twenty Creek) as the result of a bridge deck failure.  The DOT has ordered expedited repair work, weather permitting.  But, until exploratory demolition work is accomplished, no time frame is given.

A one-hour delay is reported in the move of the transformer thru West Union and Walhalla.  At the start, the haulers encountered low pressure in one of the interior tires on the rig, so two tires had to be removed.  About the delay, the Duke spokesman said, “Better now than later.”
