The “slow move” has begun
Right on schedule at 9 this morning, professional haulers started the move of a new transformer from West Union to Duke Energy’s Bad Creek hydro-electric plant in northern Oconee County. Weighing 700,000 pounds, this transformer is being hauled by truck from West Union, through Walhalla, and then northward on SC 28 to highway 107. The Walhalla Police and state Transport Police are among law enforcement agencies who are helping direct traffic and provide escort.
