A proclamation is scheduled to be read next week by the Oconee County Council in recognition of the passing of a weekly newspaper tradition in the county. At its meeting Tuesday night, the council is scheduled to pass a proclamation recognizing the Keowee Courier and Westminster News—two papers that recently stopped publishing and merged with The Journal at Seneca.

I-85 traffic flow interrupted this afternoon

Maintenance work at Georgia 170 southbound on I-85 today has shut down the left lane of travel.  To avoid that slowdown and backup, some motorists have exited at Lavonia.  As a result that city’s downtown is seeing heavy traffic.  Adding to that this afternoon was a two-vehicle wreck reported on I-85 southbound in Oconee near exit 1.
