Avoid the sedentary lifestyle and live healthy

A state park in northeast Georgia next week will be the setting for a retreat and refresh stroke camp for South Carolina Upstate survivors of strokes. Each year strokes affect almost 800 thousand people in the U-S, and the condition becomes an ongoing process that affects not just the person who had the stroke, but the family. Strokes can happen to anyone at any age. The Cerebrovascular and Stroke Center at Prisma Health-Upstate, formerly GHS, is arranging the weekend retreat to run Friday thru Sunday, April 27-29 at the Unicoi State Park Lodge, 1788 Highway 356, Helen, Georgia. It will include activities specifically for survivors and caregivers in a comfortable, informal setting. It’s an opportunity for survivors to lift each other through hope, inspiration, and motivation. Campers register at www.strokecamp.org or 309/688-5450.
