COVID-19 cases in South Carolina, including Oconee County, dropped today.  The total of new cases statewide amounted to 197 and there are 21 new confirmed cases of death including a second elderly Oconeean who died on Monday. The total number of test results reported yesterday to DHEC 1,252 and positivity was 15.7%.  

A young man killed in a Sunday night incident on I-26 in Spartanburg County had ties to Oconee County and is being remembered today by a business associate.  State troopers say the victim was Chris Campbell, 33 years old, husband of Emily Alysse Porter of Tamassee. Oconee’s main library at Walhalla will remain open tomorrow afternoon and not close as previously planned.  The library announces that Duke Energy and its contractor are being delayed and the repair project will take place at a later date.
