Seneca’s Rhett Evatt has died.  At age 90, Evatt died yesterday at the Cottingham Hospice House.  As the president, CEO, and board chairman, Evatt helped grow Oconee Savings and Loan into a publicly-traded company serving upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia.  He is survived by his wife, Gaynell.  Their marriage lasted 67 years.  Among other survivors is grandson Will Parker […]

Two members of the Oconee Sheriff’s Office recently graduated from the basic program at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. They are former state prison sergeant Angel Jennings and Ryan King who has worked for the Sheriff’s Office since May. Jennings is a uniform patrol deputy; King, an animal control officer.
