Rhett Evatt has died

Seneca’s Rhett Evatt has died.  At age 90, Evatt died yesterday at the Cottingham Hospice House.  As the president, CEO, and board chairman, Evatt helped grow Oconee Savings and Loan into a publicly-traded company serving upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia.  He is survived by his wife, Gaynell.  Their marriage lasted 67 years.  Among other survivors is grandson Will Parker of Seneca, the Sunday announcer on 101.7/WGOG.  The family receives friends from 6 to 8 o’clock tomorrow night at St. Mark United Methodist Church and again from 11 am to 11:45 am Thursday, prior to the service.  The funeral will be at noon Thursday at the church, with a private burial to follow immediately.  Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist, designated for Special Friends Ministry, 616 Quincy Road, Seneca, SC  29678 or to the T.
