Imagining Oconee Memorial’s future emergency room

The availability of funding will dictate whether work starts this year to expand the emergency department at Oconee Memorial. Hunter Kome, chief operating officer of the GHS Oconee Medical Campus, says space in the existing emergency department is now inadequate. Kome gave a report last night to the Oconee Memorial Holdings Board. It won’t be just added room, he said, but a way to flow patients thru the process of emergency care. The money that duffers will expend to a play in a pair of golf tourneys this year will, in part, go into the fund to pay for the expansion, as announced last night by Cortni Nations of the Oconee Memorial Foundation.
