A 39-year-old Westminster man, Carl Cagney O’Kelley, died in a Sunday afternoon accident on the Cleveland Pike Road, according to Coroner Karl Addis.  The state patrol’s Nick Pye reported the accident around 4:30 pm involving a Chevy SUV.  The car flipped and its driver was ejected.

A long-time northeast Georgia school teacher is identified as a stabbing victim in rural Stephens County.  An arrest has been made.  Reports carried by Toccoa WNEG and Lake Hartwell Radio WLHR indicate an arrest and charges of murder and aggravated assault against 39-year-old Toccoa resident Christopher Vaughn. Walhalla officials wish all a Happy New Year in 2024.  As such, Monday, January 1 is a holiday for city workers.  No trash will be collected.  Monday routes will be made up on Tuesday, and all customers should have roll carts out by 7 o’clock on Tuesday morning.
