Bob Townsend
Lavonia – James Robert “Bob” Townsend, 78, husband of Betty Lindsay Townsend, passed away Sunday, December 24th, 2023 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Newport News, Virginia, Bob was the son of the late Lloyd James and Florence Ellen Townsend. Bob worked in retail at Sears and Belk where he later retired, he also worked at Osborne Wood Products and Foothills Church. He was an active member of Foothills Church where he served as trustee. Bob enjoyed building his family’s dream home on Lake Hartwell. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, and boating on the lake.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Betty; sons, Robert Lloyd Townsend and his wife Renee Groover of Buford, GA, Michael Charles Townsend of Loganville, GA; sister, Rosalyn Townsend Ford of Little River, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Townsend, Jared Etheridge, Alicia Hogsed; niece, Sandra Surratt; great-nephew, Drew Surratt; and great-grandchildren, Kasey Teasley, Charleann Teasley, and Cole Teasley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at Foothills Church.
