Mental health summit next month in Oconee

Invitations are going out for a first-of-its-kind summit meeting on mental health issues in Oconee County.  It’s being led by the first-term county probate judge, Danny Singleton.  It’ll take place January 19 in the meeting room area of Seneca’s Light and Water Treatment Plant on Lake Keowee, and will run for most of the afternoon on that Friday.  Among officials lined up as speakers are Sheriff Crenshaw, Cpt. Chapman, Prisma Health psychiatrist Karen Lommel, along with state mental health department attorney Rochelle Caton, and state Voke Rehab’s Jeff Martin and Dan Alexander.  In an interview to air on 101.7/WGOG NEWS, Probate Judge Singleton explains why it’s important for this kind of meeting to take place at this time.
