We are receiving word that, after a one-year hiatus caused by the world pandemic, there will be a Hillbilly Day this July in Oconee County.  It’s a traditional 4th of July celebration of real hillbillies and make-believe ones on the grounds of the Mountain Rest Community Club.

Fire broke out just after 11 last night in a Nissan Sentra on Seneca’s West Quincy Road. No injuries reported.

An assistant principal at Seneca High will take charge of the school district’s Hamilton Career and Technology Center.  The school district announces Carson LeCroy as the new career center director, in place of Chad Lusk.

The Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority (OJRSA) has repealed the water quality advisory issued on June 4, 2021, for Richland Creek and Coneross Creek in Oconee County. In its afternoon report, South Carolina DHEC confirmed 79 new cases of COVID-19.  Of those 79, one was in Oconee.  Statewide, there were no new deaths.  Of 6,138 test results received, the positivity was 1.8%.  The numbers are data reflecting the 24-hour count that ended Saturday night.
