Police warn against “a tragedy waiting to happen”

The Walhalla police, along with Project ChildSafe, are giving away firearms safety kits to local residents.  The kits include a cable-style gun lock are available 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday at the police station, 101 E. Main Street.  Developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Project ChildSafe educates community members on safe firearms handing practices and works to reduce firearms accidents in local communities.  Walhalla Chief Sean Brinson said, “We feel that if even one accident or death can be prevented through ChildSafe, the program will have been worth the effort.”
