Repair crews are digging this morning to find and replace a water leak at West Union.  The leak cut off traffic over the weekend on SC 11 from the traffic lights to across the bridge.

  Dale Glymph is scheduled to officially join the Westminster City Council when he is sworn into office in a ceremony at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, January 4.  Two incumbent council members—Yousef Mefleh and Jimmy Powell—will also take the oath for new, 4-year terms. Glymph will fill the seat that Reid Adams held.      

Oconee County’s Kevin Brown has been appointed commander of Troop 3 for the South Carolina Highway Patrol.  Named by the state Department of Public Safety, Brown succeeds Major Michael Carson to command troopers in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens, Greenville, and Spartanburg counties.  Kevin Brown’s dad, Neal, is a retired captain who led Troop 3 from 2006 to 2010.

Saturday’s Fair Play parade was a washout.  The rescheduled date for that community’s Christmas parade is Saturday, December 18, same time, same place.  The parade lineup will be Yoder’s parking lot at 11:30. Roads to be closed at 12:45 for the parade start at 1 pm.
