House fire near Walhalla

No one was inside a house that caught fire last night near Walhalla.  The fire occurred on Hope Drive–behind Turning Point Church of God on South Carolina 11.  A Walhalla fireman told 96.3/WGOG NEWS he doesn’t know why the fire started, but its origin was the living room of the house.  Moderate damage was reported.

Arrests made in high school building site theft

Another instance of thievery has taken place at the construction site for the new Walhalla High School. This time, however, the law captured and arrested two suspects. A car, a van and a pickup truck collided early yesterday afternoon near Seneca. Public safety responders went to the aid of an apartment dweller near Seneca.  One responsder told 96.3/WGOG NEWS that the man at Pelham Creek Road apartment was being attended for medical problems as the result of an apparent cooking accident this morning around 9 o’clock.

A new way to follow Seneca City Council!

Starting soon a new way to follow Seneca City Council. Video equipment is being installed in the council chambers to allow a recording to be played back by cable television. Joel Seavey, clerk-treasurer, also says the video recordings will be streamed live, so that Senecans and others interested may follow them by computer and a link on the city’s website.
