Fire damaged a kitchen last night in a home near Salem. Fire fighters and the American Red Cross responded around 7:30 to a home on Newman Road near Jocassee Lake Road. No one reported injured.

Clemson University conferred more than 1,800 degrees yesterday during two commencement ceremonies. Additional ceremonies are planned today in the Littlejohn Coliseum. Among the recipients of degrees yesterday was Nikki Haley, U-S ambassador to the U-N and member of the Clemson class of 1994. She received an honorary doctorate in humanities before addressing College of Business and College of Education graduates.

An Oconee County mother and her children remain unaccounted for this afternoon. And the Sheriff’s Office continues to request help in locating Jennafer Machelle Price and her six children. Thirty-three-year old Price was last seen driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan. They have updated the tag number for the minivan to 6-6-8-2-K-W.
