Concrete walls are in place in a back section of a highway 11 Oconee County industrial park. The work is in progress where a Minnesota company promises 122 jobs and a 105 thousand square foot building. All for the purpose of making engine cooling systems for heavy, medium, and light duty trucks.

The office of the 13th Circuit Solicitor has announced the sentencing of a Central man who pleaded guilty to sex and drug charges. A judge ordered Fred Russell Urey to serve 18 years for the crimes of criminal sexual conduct first degree and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Urey is 41 years old. Burglars have struck targets in the last handful of weeks in the Tamassee-Salem area of Oconee County, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating to bring the culprit or culprits to account. A spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office says in that part of the county there have been three burglaries in the last 40 days.
