Plastics company in line for Oconee expansion

A plastics operation near Westminster is in line for an expansion. The board of the Oconee Economic Alliance was told at its meeting this morning to expect an announcement at the board’s next meeting, in November. However, a financial assistance agreement that Oconee County is offering ACI Plastics is ready for a third and final reading at next week’s county council meeting, following a public hearing. 101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned the economic development project had been cloaked by the name “Project Cylinder.” But in the materials prepared for the council Tuesday night the project is revealed as ACI Plastics. Considered a “hot status” project for the county, ACI Plastics is an existing Oconee-based firm looking to grow at its present location. “Company is partnering with a larger national firm for a new product line, resulting in a significant investment….New capital investment and new jobs will be reported following that meeting,” according to materials handed out at this morning’s Economic Alliance board meeting.
