Woman drowned Friday in Pendleton

An investigation has started in Pendleton by the town police and the Anderson County coroner of a Friday afternoon incident on the Westinghouse Road.  A 55-year old Pendleton woman, Erin Eileen Parker, drowned in a creek, a drowning that is considered secondary to the crash of her vehicle.  The coroner’s office gave this account:  “The investigation indicates that the victim’s vehicle was traveling south on Westinghouse Rd. in Pendleton, SC and apparently traveled off the right side of roadway, struck a traffic sign and rolled the vehicle into a creek.  The vehicle was submerged under water and required the Anderson Technical Rescue Team, including divers with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office to recover the victim.  It appears that the victim was traveling too fast for conditions when she ran off the roadway. The victim was wearing her seatbelt.”  The time of the accident around 3:35 pm on Friday.
