Why Libby Imbody received applause

In a city hall meeting that exceeded two hours, a couple of rounds of applause were accorded Walhalla’s Main Street Director.  One set of applause went to Libby Imbody when she announced that the city is one of eight communities in three states in a grant application to the Appalachian Regional Commission to be included in a  program to address what are called “economic challenges relating to local wealth generation, business ownership, and access to financial and social capital.”  Walhalla is also one of three communities in the running for a USDA Rural Business Development grant.  She explains this would be to further support small businesses.
