Why a new school administrator’s job is important

Going into a new school year, Oconee school leaders are splitting one administrator’s job into two.  And the reasons were further told  as the district superintendent addressed the county trustees. Dr. Thorsland last evening took the suggestion of Amanda Holder, the District One’s first-term trustee, and explained that a new assistant superintendent for elementary education will be helpful in improving the performance of elementary special education students.  The state has ranked their performance, along with many other special ed elementary pupils statewide, as sub-par.  Seven Oconee elementary schools have been identified.  Thorsland says the state is going to pitch in with funding to bring up the scores.  Lisa Simmons will soon leave her job as assistant superintendent for instruction.  It’s her job that is being divided into two.
