Westminster police chief resigns

Westminster’s two-year police chief, Matt Patterson, is stepping down, effective November 24.  The city of Westminster extended its appreciation to Patterson for his service and wishes him the best moving forward.  The city council last night appointed Caitlin Pope, interim chief, and will swear her into the interim role today.  Pope has been in law enforcement since 2015.  Assisting in the transition is Lt. John Merck, who will remain in his current role.  A nationwide search for a new Westminster police is the plan, and details on that search are to be announced soon.
