Westminster homeless numbers on the increase

A church in Westminster has detected an increasing number of homeless families in its city.  And tonight, the directors of the Hope ComeUnity of the Presbyterian Church will ask the city council to deed property on Riley Street, a former recycling center, to allow for three small homes for individuals or families who’ve turned to Hope ComeUnity for help.  A letter to the mayor and council above the signature of Leslie McCall, the chair of the Hope ComeUnity Board, reads:  “All families will agree to rent the house for 20% of their household income.  These dollars will be put into a savings account to be given to the family when they transition to their future living situation.  If any damage occurs to the house and/or property, the expense to repair will be taken from this savings account.”
