Weekend duty for the elections office staff

The start of filing for what are considered local offices this election year is Saturday, which necessitates afternoon hours this Saturday for the staff at the Oconee elections office in Walhalla.  The doors to their Pine Street complex offices will be open from noon until 5 o’clock Saturday afternoon.  That’s when, according to assistant elections director Ryan Nowland, Oconeeans may qualify to run in this year’s primaries for the following offices State Senate 1, State House seats 1 and 2, county coroner, county auditor, county treasurer, and seats 2, 4, and 5 on the county council.  The filing will remain open weekdays 8:30 am to 5 pm until 12 noon Monday, April 1.
