Weatherman’s forecast for tonight

When the rain arrives after midnight tonight, all areas will be above freezing at the outset of the rain, says South Carolina forecaster Frank Strait, but the temperature will quickly fall to around freezing over northern parts of Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, and Spartanburg.  And, for a time, elevated road surfaces could become icy. By 9 tomorrow morning, temps will rise above freezing, so most road surfaces will just be wet. South Carolina’s wet weather, from west to east, ends tomorrow afternoon and early evening.  Strait is keeping is eyes on the potential for an intense storm system to shape over the U-S midsection.  He says, “We’re likely to see major impacts here in South Carolina.  My primary concern is going to be the high winds.”  It’s possible that starting late Monday night, a period of freezing rain may cause icy spots over parts of Upstate north of I-85.
