Weapon law violations increase in South Carolina

Data reported to the state police show the rate of weapon law violations increased 11% from 2021 to 2022 and a whopping 106% from 2013 to 2022. And that’s a big worry of “SLED” Chief Mark Keel who says, “I continue to be extremely concerned about the gun violence we are seeing, especially among young people.  Law enforcement, elected officials, and our community partners need to continue to work together so that those who should not have access to guns are held accountable and families can feel safe.” Data compiled for “SLED’s” Crime in South Carolina Annual Report come from state and local law enforcement agencies across the state.
