Walhallan, for now, closes the door, on political race

The name of Walhalla businessman Josh Thomas arises in talk as to who might run to succeed Danny Edwards as city mayor.  Today, Thomas issued the following statement to 101.7/WGOG NEWS, “As of right now, no.  It’s not the right season for me for mayor or council.  I’m keeping a close (watch) on who is putting their hat in the ring but as of right now, no.”  Kenny Johns, an announced candidate for a council seat, has said he believes Tim Hall III, a former county councilman, has his sights set on the mayor’s office.  Hall has not responded to a 101.7/WGOG NEWS inquiry about the possibility.  The qualification period for residents of all Oconee municipalities to run for office in their towns and cities will open on Monday.
