Walhalla welcome to Waffle House

Not one word of dissent was uttered at city hall last night as two Walhalla government bodies signaled the arrival of a new fast food restaurant at the city’s southern edge.  After a joint meeting of the city council and the planning commission, an ordinance was approved to annex piece of property alongside SC 28 where Waffle House wishes to build a restaurant.  The property is to carry a highway commercial zoning classification.  The new restaurant is to be built just to the Seneca side of the Walhalla Zaxby’s.  A planning commissioner posed a question of whether there are any drawbacks.  Brandon Burton, city administrator, replied that there could be traffic congestion in the vicinity of Waffle House and Zaxby’s, but the city looks to the DOT for help there.  According to Burton, most accidents in that area occur where traffic leaving Zaxby’s crosses 28 to make a left turn to move north.
