Vulnerable foster youth get a soft place to land

A newly-created “Lily Pad” room in the building housing the Pickens County DSS allows for a soft place to land for area foster children.  With the help of Wren High School students, a Greenville County non-profit transformed a room in the DSS building that now has the feel and looks of a comfortable living room.  Couches and desks provide a safe and homey place for kids to do homework, play games, and rest while they wait for placement.  This Pickens County lily pad is the fourth space created in a South Carolina DSS office.
