Votes to help prep the Golden Corner Park

Oconee County Council is looking at the commitment to spend big at Golden Corner, to help make the empty commerce park ready for an employer to locate.  Two Golden Corner Commerce Park spending matters are on the agenda of next week’s county council meeting.  Kershaw contractor Services of Kershaw is positioned to be awarded $2.9 million for mass grading at Golden Corner.  A Greenville outfit, Terracon Consultants, stands to receive $73.5 thousand to provide construction testing for the mass grading such as fill placement and density testing.  Offsetting the costs of the work is outside grants obtained by the Oconee Economic Alliance. One is a $1.5 million reimbursable grant from the state Commerce Department; the other, a $1 million reimbursable grant from the South Carolina Power Team.  Local monies from the millage fund of the county’s economic development capital project millage of $787 thousand round out the costs.
