Voluntary water reduction in Highlands, NC
Prolonged drought conditions and the lack of measurable rain in the extended forecast have landed the town of Highlands, North Carolina in voluntary water reductions. All Highlands water users are requested to reduce their normal use by 5%. Under Stage 1 water shortage, the following guidelines apply:
- Do not leave faucets running while shaving or rinsing dishes
- Limit lawn and garden watering
- Refrain from filling swimming or wading pools
