Voluntary cleanup of downtown Seneca property

A commercial property in downtown Seneca is in line for a voluntary cleanup as a Brownfields Site, according to a notice appearing in today’s legal section of The Journal.  The state Department of Health and Environmental Control is accepting public comment on a proposed cleanup contract between the state agency and 100 W. North First Street, formerly Kings Cleaners and Laundry.  According to the notice, part of the property is being used as a metal machine shop; the rest previously used as a dry cleaner.  And, it says, the past use of the property may have caused environmental pollution.
