Veteran treasurer to stand down at election time

Greg Nowell will not seek a new term as Oconee Treasurer.  The long-time public servant made the following announcement today:  “After completing the term for the previous treasurer and serving four terms of my own, I will not seek a fifth term.  It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the great people of Oconee County.  Along with my staff, I have implemented many time and money-saving programs.  I would like this to continue and that’s why I am endorsing Chief Deputy Tonya Keller to succeed me.  She has worked very close to me the last three-plus years to learn the ins and outs of the office of Oconee County Treasurer.  With Ms. Keller’s education and years of experience makes her the perfect choice and will make the transition seamless.”
