Vacated manufacturing building sells for $3 million

The long-vacated manufacturing building just to the east of Westminster corporate limits has changed hands and will have a new purpose.  The purchase of the former Taylor Made golf equipment plant building was a $3 million transaction, according to realtor Anna Powell of Powell Real Estate.  In an interview this morning, Powell declined to identify the buyer, but described him as a businessman who will bring a book distribution business to the Westminster area and create some 20 to 30 jobs.  She said the book distributor’s clients will include TJ Maxx and Barnes and Noble. Golf club and golf ball manufacturing dated way back into the 20th century at Westminster when the original manufacturer, Dunlop, built around 1960.  Later tenants included Maxfli and Taylor Made.  At one point, football great Dan Marino made a personal appearance to test out the equipment.
