Update–search for crime suspect

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the
public’s help today in locating a wanted subject with outstanding arrest warrants.
38 year old Ralph Jake Goss, Jr. of Columbia, SC is currently wanted on three outstanding arrest
warrants from the Walhalla Police Department on charges of Kidnapping, Possession of a
Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal
Sexual Conduct. The charges are from an investigation into an incident that occurred at a West
Main Street business, in Walhalla, back on March 12th
.
Earlier this morning, at around 7:28am, the E-911 Communications Center received a call from
an adult female at a residence on Heath Road, just off of Dr. John’s Road, which is southwest of
Westminster. The caller stated that a white male wearing tennis shoes and a gray hoodie
knocked on her door and asked for assistance regarding a flat tire. The male was driving a white
older model Honda.
When deputies arrived, the male, identified as Goss, ran into the woods. Additional deputies
responded to the scene, which included K-9 officers and their handlers, and dispatch issued a
reverse 911 call to residents in the area. Additional personnel and assets from the South Carolina
Law Enforcement Division also responded to help conduct the search for Goss, Jr.
Goss is 5’10” tall, weighs 180 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. Goss is also
reportedly in possession of a knife.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has also obtained arrest warrants against Goss, Jr. on
charges of Failure to stop for a Blue Light and Resisting Arrest in relation to this morning’s
incident on Heath Drive.
