Under the big tent, a German-style luncheon

The official start to Walhalla Oktoberfest is not until 6 tonight, but the three-day festival is getting a kick start with the first Oktoberfest luncheon since the hiatus caused by COVID.  Several of those dining on brats wore German-style hats and a number of people, such as Kathy and State Representative Bill Whitmire, wore full-length German clothing.  An impressive-sized crowd open their wallets for the $20 dollar a plate servings — the proceeds for which go to the local Rotary club’s “Pedals Possible” project.  So much has been raised, says Rotarian Meghan Ketterman, that her club can buy at least one or, possibly, two of those adaptive bicycles to donate to the public schools for special needs students.
