Unauthorized county property campers face eviction

Acting on a recent complaint, Oconee County will undertake eviction proceedings next week to evict a number of people who are camping on county-owned property adjoining the Seneca Rail Site, industrial property off the Shiloh Road that is shared by the county and the city of Seneca.  Amanda Brock, county administrator, said a code officer’s inspection of the property determined that the camp is not as large as first reported, but is visible on one side to private property and backs up to the industry property.  Monday is the day, Brock says, that the campers are to be served trespass notices.  One of the county’s biggest concerns is that with the cold weather, a fire lit by the campers could spread out of control — considering the dry conditions and especially the dry underbrush in the vicinity.
