Two Walhallans added to the November ballot

On the eve of the qualifying deadline, Walhalla gets new candidates for both mayor and city council.  One is a State Department diplomat; the other, a Main Street businessman.  Current State Department employee Tim Hall III announces his intentions for mayor, making this statement:  “Walhalla should be a functioning, financially sound city that provides quality services for its citizens.  I also support a vibrant and diverse business community that benefits the people of our town, contributes to the city’s revenue base, and provides opportunities for our citizens.”  Under the Hatch Act, federal employee Hall may run in non-partisan elections, such as Walhalla’s.

Josh Thomas, owner of two Main Street businesses, announces he’s joining the field of city council candidates.  The downtown is a high priority for him.  Thomas said, “I’m filing to run for Walhalla City Council to give a voice to every Walhalla resident and business owner who appreciates and supports the ongoing revitalization of downtown Walhalla.”
