Two post offices to be re-named for fallen servicemen

Legislation introduced by Jeff Duncan, the 3rd District U-S representative, signed into law will rename the Pickens and Easley, South Carolina post office for fallen soldiers.  The post offices in Pickens and Easley are to be named for PFC Barrett Lyle Austin of Easley and Specialist Four Charles Johnson Jr. of Pickens.  Austin served in Afghanistan and Johnson in Vietnam.  Both soldiers, said Duncan, died while defending the U-S.  Twenty-year old Austin was driving an armored truck in the Wardak Province of Afghanistan in 2013 when insurgents attacked and a bomb exploded.  When Johnson was killed in 1966, he became the first Vietnam casualty from Pickens County.  He was 17 years old.
