Tuesday’s chase started with a traffic stop

The arrest Tuesday of an Oconee woman in Georgia, at the end of a police pursuit, originated in her home county near Westminster when an Oconee deputy stopped a dark-colored car on the W. Bennett Road. The county sheriff’s office has released details on why Cheyenne Nicole Collier was pursued.  The following account has been released:  “The driver of the vehicle pulled over on W. Bennett Road.  The Deputy spoke to and identified the female driver as 23-year-old Cheyenne Nicole Collier of West Union.  A check with dispatch revealed that the license of the driver was suspended and that she had a General Sessions Bench warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine and a Magistrate Bench Warrant from the city of Walhalla.  While attempting to place her under arrest, Collier placed her vehicle in drive and drove off, almost dragging the Deputy with the vehicle.  The Deputy returned to his vehicle and informed Dispatch that he was in pursuit of the vehicle….The Deputy followed Collier from W. Bennett Road to Plant Road to Mountain Road and then onto S. Highway 11.  Heading southbound, Collier entered I-85 southbound….and proceeded to cross into….Georgia.”  From there, the chase would end when authorities say the Scion drove into a cemetery and knocked over grave markers.  The driver ran, but was captured.  Collier faces multiple charges.
