Troopers out in numbers on I-85 Georgia

If you drove I-85 last week across northeast Georgia, chances are you saw state troopers out in full force to enforce Operation Southern Slowdown.  And, judging by the comments of the Hartwell post commander, Sgt. Fleming, it appeared motorists paid closer attention to their speeds.  Authorities want all motorists to keep in mind that speed can kill or maim.  Between Monday and Friday last week, troopers worked 10 crashes in the Post 52 area and made five DUI arrests.  They also recovered a stolen car on 85 and, in another instance, recovered a ghost gun – a gun with the serial number filed off – which was in the possession of a convicted felon.
