Traffic wrecks rise during peak deer movement

A peak deer movement this week creates a driving hazard for motorists, especially in nearby Stephens County, Georgia and other north Georgia locales.  Tracking efforts by the Georgia DNR correspond with the breeding season.  Several vehicle accidents in Stephens and surrounding counties have been the result of deer encounters — either vehicle/deer collisions, or wrecks resulting from drivers swerving to miss a deer in the roadway.  The recent change from daylight saving time moves the busiest commute times for workers to the same hours in which white-tailed deer are most active — and dawn and dusk.
