Traffic stops = drug charges

Oconee Sheriff’s Office makes this afternoon announcement:

“Two separate traffic stops, one early Sunday morning and one late Sunday evening, led to the arrests of two men by the Oconee County Sheriff’s office on drug charges.

 

The first traffic stop occurred early Sunday morning in the Fair Play area, on Rock Hill Road near Tugaloo Shores Road, due to a traffic violation.  The vehicle was occupied by the driver, identified as 32 year old Kyle Dwaine Glenn of Townville, and a female passenger.

 

During the course of the traffic stop, a quantity of Marijuana and Methamphetamine was seized by a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division.  The female passenger was released from the scene.  Glenn was placed under arrest and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:31am Sunday.

 

Glenn has been charged with one count each of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana.  According to arrest warrants, the amount of Methamphetamine seized was approximately 11.71 grams, while the amount of Marijuana seized was approximately 153.77 grams.

 

The second traffic stop occurred Sunday evening after a pursuit by deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division on a black Dodge Durango.  The traffic stop was initiated due to an observed traffic violation in the area of Friendship Road near Campbell Bridge Road.  The pursuit concluded on Friendship Road near Deer Run Court near Seneca.

 

The Durango was occupied by a female passenger and the driver, who was identified as 40 year old David Wayne Howard of Westminster.

 

During the course of the traffic stop, deputies seized a quantity of Methamphetamine.  Deputies also discovered a firearm inside of the vehicle that was reported stolen.  The total weight of the Methamphetamine seized was approximately 9.5 grams.  The female passenger was released from the scene while Howard was placed under arrest and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:35am Monday morning.

 

Howard has been charged with one count each of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.  Howard was also issued citations for Failure to stop for a Blue Light, Driving under Suspension and Use of a Tag Registered to Another Vehicle.

 

At this time, Glenn remains in custody, at the Detention Center, on a combined $75,000 surety bond.

 

Howard also remains in custody at the Detention Center, at this time, pending a bond hearing on the drug and weapon charges.  He received a combined $1,942.50 surety bond on the traffic violations.”
