Toccoa Train Day is tomorrow

Passengers aboard the Amtrak Crescent Line tomorrow will learn that those at one of the passing stops appreciate the transportation service and its history.  Saturday is Toccoa Train Day.  A day-long event, Train Day starts at sunrise when the southbound Amtrak Crescent Line pulls into the historic depot.  The depot, estimated to have been built in 1915, is located at 47 North Alexander Street in downtown Toccoa.  Billed as transportation from ‘The Big Apple to the Big Easy’, the Crescent Line train is a 30 hour, 31-stop route between New York City and New Orleans.  Passengers debarking tomorrow will be welcomed with bags of information about Toccoa.  Local representatives will board the train and ride it as far as Gainesville while handing out information to the riders.  Toccoa Radio’s Connie Gaines will take her morning show and broadcast live from the depot.
