To make arrest, Oconee Sheriff’s Office worked with federal agency

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, in
cooperation with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security, arrested a Seneca man Tuesday on 15 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 2nd degree.
30 year old Cory Donovan Simpson, of Watershed Road, was released from the Detention Center Wednesday after posting bond.

Simpson received a combined $155,000 surety bond. Besides the
arrest warrants from the Sheriff’s Office, Simpson was also served an arrest warrant by the South
Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services for a probation violation.
The investigation stemmed from Cybertips in regard to the possession and distribution of Child
Sexual Abuse Material by Simpson, which also included attempts to blackmail multiple minors
for the purposes of monetary gain.
Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, Investigators obtained a search
warrant for Simpson’s residence, which was served on Tuesday. Evidence also obtained during
the Investigation led to probable cause being established and arrest warrants obtained.
