Thumb tip lost in Lake Keowee mishap

The severing of part of a thumb in a Lake Keowee accident two years ago is at the center of a court filing this week in the Oconee Common Pleas Court.  Suit on behalf of Sam Bylenga seeks damages against a company that makes and sells efoils electric surfboards.  The lawsuit names Lift LLC and Inland Efoils LLC as defendants.  According to the pleadings Bylenga, a Greenville resident, signed up for an electric surfboard  demonstration May 21, 2021 at the lake.  But, it alleges, that Bylenga fell from an efoil into the water and his left hand came in contact with a spinning propeller and resulted in his left thumb severed at the tip.  The plaintiff’s lawsuit alleges negligence and liability on the part of the defendants.
