Three court filings for Matthew Durham

On behalf of defendant Matthew Durham, the Oconee County councilman’s attorney entered three filings this afternoon in the General Sessions Court.  They request a speedy trial for Durham, who was suspended from office after his arrest, a year and a half into his term.  And the filings by Durham attorney Keith Denny motion for quash – or make invalid – the charges of unlawful neglect of a child and domestic violence second degree.  A third filing is a motion to compel an assistant attorney general, Megan Raymer, to allow the defense “inspection and in-camera review” of Raymer’s cellphone and recording device.  According to that motion, Raymer met Wednesday at the Oconee Courthouse with Durham’s wife, Rosalind Kate Durham, but would not allow Mrs. Durham to bring her cellphone to record the interview for herself.  In the filings, the defense also claims that Mr. Durham has been improperly denied a preliminary hearing.
