This solicitation letter is no scam, says the sheriff

The annual spring-time solicitation letter for the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association is no scam, insists Mike Crenshaw, the Oconee Sheriff who is a past president of the state association.  The effort is a direct mail campaign to South Carolinians statewide.  The SC Sheriff’s Association does not use telemarketers to solicit for contributions but does solicit donations via mail.  Letters are normally signed by either Jarrod Bruder, Executive Director, or by York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson, current association president.  The money raises is used what are considered critical training and education various issues that the state’s 46 county sheriffs face, along with advocacy to state lawmakers for stronger laws and the rights of crime victims and witnesses who help prosecute criminals.
