“This man not be let out of jail”

A young Seneca man in shackles stood in the defendant’s dock and heard the judge say the defendant is a danger to the community and is not entitled to a bond.  And it’s back to jail for Truett Gregory Brock, awaiting trial on two separate charges of attempted murder – the latest of which is an incident alleged to have occurred last week near Seneca.  Judge Sprouse heard Jason Alderman, the deputy solicitor, say that he fears that should Brock be released pre-trial that there’s a possibility that a third such attempted murder incident may be successful.  Sprouse also heard a member of the victim’s family say that, out of fear of what might happen again, she has been forced to suspend operation of her day care business. To the judge, she pleaded, “This man (Brock) not be let out of jail.”  Sprouse made two rulings.  He revoked a $1 million dollar bond that, as it was described to the court, had been improperly set by a magistrate.  Secondly, the judge rejected a motion by Brock’s lawyer, Public Defender Amanda Surles, for a replacement bond; however, he told the defense that it may renew the bond request after six months.
