The vote may be taken as late as January

Denise McCormick, chairwoman of the Oconee school trustees, says because the five-member board has yet to discuss the proposed long-range building plans, she’ll be fine to wait as late as January to call for a vote. Last night the trustees heard their top administrators urge a December vote.  “We just need plenty of time to make a decision,” she said this morning.  And McCormick called attention to the website release today of the results of the district-sponsored survey of school community members and the general public.  Six supporters of the Tamassee-Salem Elementary School registered their opposition at last night’s board meeting to the potential to close their school and combine it with Keowee Elementary in a new building that would be constructed at another location.
